The Teton High School Volleyball team is set to serve up a winning season heading into a new school year and no one is more excited than head coach Deyshia Steketee.
“I’m super stoked for this year,” Steketee said this week. “We have amazing girls that are returning and our team dynamitic is extremely powerful. They get along well and really want to work hard for each other.”
This is Steketee’s second year as head coach. Darlene Kunz is the assistant coach and Dayna Long completes the coaching team as head of junior varsity.
With nine girls on varsity, Steketee said her seniors are real leaders not only on the team, but in a highly competitive district. Rounding out the team are seniors Halle Lasson, Ashley Johnston, Audrey Moss and Larissa Fullmer
“We’re going all out this year,” said Steketee. “We have nothing to lose. We’re going to go hard and smart. We’re playing and hitting as hard we can.”
Steketee said Fullmer and Lasson are the two team captains. She noted that Fullmer was a player to watch this season and Lasson was one of the best setters in the district. With Johnson’s serving skills and Moss’s ability to push the team mentally, the season has no limit for what they can accomplish.
“This team has the skill set to be great,” Steketee said.
The team plays at North Fremont Thursday, Sept. 6 starting at 4:30 p.m. and hits the road again on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 4:30 p.m. at Snake River.
