Robert James Zavodny

Robert James Zavodny, known to his many friends and followers in the Teton Valley region as Bob Zee, went to be with his heavenly father on January 20, 2018 at the age of 66 years, 8 months, one week, and one day, following a valiant battle with cancer and pneumonia.

Bob was born in Valentine, Nebraska on May 12, 1951, the youngest of 6 children born to "Hap" and Leona Zavodny, who ranched south of Woodlake, Nebraska at that time. The family moved to Seward, Nebraska in November of 1952 after the sale of the ranch. Four older siblings graduated high school there and then Hap and Leona, along with the two youngest, moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1962 where Bob finished his schooling.

Following in his four older brothers' footsteps, he joined the United States Navy upon graduation which made Hap a very proud father. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, Bob returned to Loveland Colorado and shortly thereafter was married to Jean Jeanigan for a short period of about two years. He then embarked on his journey in life which was unique only to Bob. This journey included a two year stay in a teepee in the Poudre Canyon west of Fort Collins, Colorado, a stay in Worland, Wyoming, and another two year stay in an abandoned log cabin somewhere outside of Ten Sleep, Wyoming. He stayed in the Ten Sleep area for some time, even acquiring some property there.

Then on to Jackson, Wyoming where he rented a storage unit and lived in it through the winter. Then on to Driggs, Idaho where he traded his 1948 Harley Davidson motorcycle for a house. He later acquired an acreage outside of Driggs. After the sale of that property, he moved to Tetonia where he had his woodworking shop and living quarters. He lived there until his demise.

He was a living legend in the Teton Valley because of his lust for living and his prowess and superb talent as a virtuoso percussionist. His was a life that many people only dream of but few dare to go there. Bob is survived by four brothers, Tom Zavodny of Gilbert, Arizona, Dick Zavodny of Loveland, Colorado, Larry Zavodny of Loveland, Colorado, Gerry Zavodny of Northglenn, Colorado and one sister, Betty Macoubrie-Crosby of Loveland, Colorado. Bob was one of those individuals who made a difference in the lives of those he touched. I am one of those individuals.....
