Dory Puglisi

Dory Grace Puglisi, 8, passed away on Friday June 7, 2019 after a head-on collision in Tetonia.

Daughter of Lee H. Puglisi and Frankie Owens-Puglisi, sister of Gwen and Alex Puglisi, Dory was born in Florida but called Teton Valley home since she was an infant.

She will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends, and was taken away from us way too soon. Dory loved her family, all her animals, and her friends. She was an avid reader and delighted in making beautiful artwork. She played baseball, lacrosse, and soccer, and thrived in all three. Dory was truly an old soul that would not hurt a fly, probably because she detested them and ran as far from them as possible! She was sweet, and kind, and loving. Dory was a stellar student and friend, and was excelling at school in the Dual Immersion program at Driggs Elementary.

Dory’s enthusiasm for the future was boundless. She was really looking forward to an amazing summer full of fun camps, playdates, art class, the library and the Makers Space. She was also excited to meet her family on a trip to the UK, after not seeing them since she was just 6 months old. Dory was totally ready to become a third grader and was eager to go to the brand new Driggs Elementary School, currently under construction. Sadly, she will never see any of these things come to fruition, instead she will look down on us all from heaven. Our sweet and beautiful angel baby, Dory. We love you to the moon and back.

A public funeral will be held on Monday June 17, 2019 at noon at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Driggs, with an open-casket viewing available starting at 11 a.m. Following the service, Dory’s body will be laid to rest at Cedron Cemetery, and is open to anyone who would like to attend. A memorial event and celebration of her amazing spirit is being planned for Monday evening that the entire community is invited to. We hope to see lots of kids at this event, reflecting back the joy that Dory emanated. More details will be posted on Facebook soon.

Longer term, the Owens and Puglisi families will be planning some type of permanent memorial to Dory in the valley, and would appreciate any and all ideas, visions or contributions.

Updated information for Monday's funeral

Teacher, administrators, and TCSD parents please share information with the school community (Frankie & Lee want lots of kids to come to the memorial where there will be plenty of kid-friendly things to do!).

Please do NOT wear black! Please wear bright colors to reflect Dory's spirit. Casual is fine.

Please carpool to the funeral. When the church parking lot fills, you should park on the frontage road. The sheriff and parking attendants will help direct but PLEASE be careful crossing the highway.

Please take lots of photos and videos at the BOTH church funeral and the evening memorial at Teton Springs. The family wants lots of photos yourselves or other people in attendance to capture the moments of the day. There will be a professional photographer for the casket and such during the service, but Frankie wants candid shots of her community and the atmosphere of friends, families, kids and loved ones celebrating and grieving. More info to come about where to send these.

Please sign the memory book or the notecards at the funeral OR memorial to send your love to Dory, Frankie and Lee. There will be kid appropriate ways for them to engage in this as well.

Just a reminder that everyone is welcome to the closed casket viewing, silent prayer, and wishing the family well from 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service which is at noon. Following the service, there will be light snacks at the church if needed, especially if you would also like to attend the burial at Cedron cemetery. There will be a balloon release (biodegradable) at the burial site and everyone is welcome.

In addition to food, drinks, sharing stories, and connecting with friends, the gathering at Teton Springs will include lots of kids activities including pony rides, art activities, a petting zoo, sparklers and more! If you would like to help, please bring food, appetizers, beer or wine to the memorial to Teton Springs by 6 p.m. Email Sabine at if you can contribute something. The party has been extended to sundown.
