New snow possible Thursday and Friday
The National Weather in Pocatello has issued a high wind advisory for Teton Valley starting today, Thursday June 20 and running until 9 p.m. this evening. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph in Teton Valley this evening with a south wind of 20 to 30 mph decreasing to 7 to 17 mph after midnight.
A wind advisory means that winds of 30 mph are expected. Gusts over 45 mph are possible. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
The advisory has been issued for Island Park, Driggs, Dubois, Ashton, and Soda Springs. This includes I 15 near the Montana border, US 20 from St Anthony to West Yellowstone, US 26 from Idaho Falls to Alpine Wyoming, State Highways 31, 32 and 33 across the Big Holes and Teton Valley.
And just on the cusp of the summer solstice this Friday, the National Weather service is also calling for rain and snow this evening with a low of 31. The NWS is reporting new snow accumulations of less than a half-inch.
On Friday, there will be slight chance of snow before noon, then a chance of rain showers. On Friday there will be little or no snow accumulation expected according to the NWS.
