Tuesday evening the Teton County Fire District received a call around 5:15 p.m. that the barn at Teton Ridge Ranch was one fire.

Fire Chief Brett Campbell said on Wednesday that he was the first on the scene as he was on his way home north toward Tetonia when he saw the smoke and was altered to the fire call.

All three fire stations responded to the scene where the structure was fully engulfed in flames. The total loss said Campbell, was caused by electrical issue within the barn.

“It was a devastating loss,” said Campbell. “It’s a loss whether you own the ranch or work there -- it’s home and part of your property. Staff all took it pretty hard.”

Campbell said they had the fire under control within 15 minutes after the first call went out.

“It was a total loss,” said Campbell of the structure. “The whole barn was 100 percent on fire when we arrived and fire was coming out of every door and every window.”

The fire district had two water trucks, three engines and one command truck on scene. The investigation was completed on Wednesday.
