There were 372 calls for service reported to the Teton County, Idaho Sheriff’s Office between Aug. 24 and Aug. 31. Deputies performed 38 security checks of local businesses and 149 traffic stops. There were five accidents and three DUIs.
8/24 — Report of an adult male, 52, who died by apparent suicide with a firearm. He lived in Tetonia and had a driver’s license from Nevada.
8/24 — Report of suspicious person sleeping in a hammock near the public park in Brookside Hollow. When deputies arrived, he was gone.
8/25 — Traffic complaint of a vehicle netted one adult male arrested for DUI. He was processed and bonded out.
8/25 — One adult female taken into custody for DUI after deputies stopped her vehicle for a headlamp being out. She was processed and later bonded out.
8/26 — Patient transported via Air Idaho from Grand Targhee Resport after a call came in for a 36-year-old female who suffered a bike crash and had a right shoulder injury.
8/27 — Report of an adult male assaulting people and throwing objects in a bar in Tetonia and refusing to leave. The subject left the bar prior to deputies arriving. No charges were pressed and the call was cleared.
8/28 — Health and Welfare received an anonymous report of possible child abuse. Health and Welfare called the sheriff’s office to document that they had received the call.
8/28 — Report of a mother moose and calf near a trail at Teton Springs Resort. The moose was acting aggressive and charging hikers. Local Fish and Game was advised.
8/29 — Juvenile probation was performing a house check. During the check, the officer found the subject with marijuana. The subject was cited for possession of a controlled substance and was released.
8/29 — Deputy performing patrol on 8000 south where 20 vehicles were parked on the road. No citations were issued.
8/29 — Report of two female family members arguing over children. Deputies arrived and separated the women for the night.
8/30 — Off-duty deputy heard some yelling from a male and then heard several gun shots near Kay’s Hill. The off duty deputy requested deputy assistance. Deputies made contact with an individual who advised that he was grouse hunting. It was discovered that he had drug paraphernalia and marijuana in his vehicle. He was citied and released.
8/31 — Reporting party heard gun shots possibly coming from around the Armory. Reporting party curious if training going on. Deputies could not find source of apparent gun shots. The call was cleared.
8/31 — One adult male take into custody for DUI during a regular traffic stop. He was taken into custody and bonded out.
8/31 — A deputy was performing bar check in Victor. The deputy recognized a subject who was on probation. The deputy called and confirmed that the person should not be in a bar because of their probation and was taken into custody.
8/31 — According to a press release issued by Idaho State Police, on Friday, Aug. 31, at approximately 5:18 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a motorcycle crash northbound on SH31 near milepost 14, near Victor.
Gary McCord, 57, of Cortland, IL, was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. McCord failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway. McCord was ejected and the motorcycle went down an embankment.
McCord was not wearing a helmet, and was transported by air ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls where he died later that evening.
