Updated at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8: According to Public Information Officer Doug McBride with Madison Memorial Hospital, the second juvenile riding in the vehicle with Madelene Quissek was transported by air last night to Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City and is currently listed in critical condition.
Myrna Izaguirre, 43, who was driving the other vehicle was also air lifted from Madison Memorial Hospital last night and was taken to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City where she is also in critical condition.
Critical condition is a public designation for a patient's status and can mean that the patient's vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits and that the patient may be unconscious.
Updated at 11 p.m: Per a press release from the Idaho State Police, on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 6:17 p.m. ISP investigated a two vehicle fatality crash on State Highway 33 at milepost 131, near Tetonia.
Madelene Quissek, 45, of Tetonia was traveling eastbound on SH33 in a 2007 Toyota Rav. Myrna Izaguirre, 43, of Burien, Washington, was traveling westbound in a 2015 Toyota Rav. Quissek and Izaguirre's vehicles struck each other head on.
Quissek and a juvenile passenger in her vehicle succumbed to their injuries on scene. A second juvenile passenger in Quissek's vehicle and Izaguirre were transported by ground ambulance to Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.
All occupants were wearing seatbelts. ISP was assisted at the scene by the Teton County Sheriff's Office, Teton County Fire Department, and the Idaho Transportation Department. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
8:30 p.m: Teton County Sheriff Tony Liford said that two Teton Valley residents have died this evening after a head on collision north of Tetonia around 6 p.m. Friday, June 7.
A vehicle heading south toward the city was carrying three individuals. Two of them died at the scene of the accident, one being the adult driver and one a child who was unrelated to the driver. The third passenger was transported with injuries to Madison Memorial Hospital.
The second vehicle contained a driver who was also transported with injuries to Madison Memorial Hospital. The extent of all the injuries are currently unknown.
Identities are being withheld pending notification of the families.
Idaho State Police, Teton County Fire and EMS, and the Teton County Sheriff Office responded to the scene with Idaho Fish and Game and ITD assisting with the accident. Highway 33 was completely shut down for almost three hours.
Liford said the accident occurred near mile marker 132 with Idaho State Police leading the investigation.
