A man was arrested this month in Teton County, Wyoming for an alleged rape of a 12 year girl who allegedly gave birth to the accused’s baby as a result of the assaults.
Last August, the Teton County, Idaho Sheriff’s Office received a report that Kevin Sosa-Tenopala, 29 and most recently of Victor, sexually assaulted the 12 year old girl multiple times in 2006. Sosa-Tenopala was 15 at the time of the alleged crimes.
As a result of the sexual assaults, the victim became pregnant and gave birth.
In August 2019, the victim reported the rapes to the local sheriff’s office. In Idaho, there are no statute of limitations for felony rape or homicide.
In September 2019, Sosa-Tenopala was issued a DNA test. The DNA test was sent to the Idaho State Police Forensics Laboratory for testing. In January 2020, the DNA test indicated that it was 99.9 percent positive that Sosa-Tenopala was the biological father of the child born from the accuser. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Sosa-Tenopala.
Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff’s Office arrested Sosa-Tenopala and while he was awaiting extradition to Idaho, he posted a $50,000 bond.
The Teton County, Idaho Prosecutor’s Office charged him with felony Lewd Conduct with a Minor. A court date for Teton County, Idaho has been set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
