The Rexburg Police Department reports that a man has been arrested for passing counterfeit money in Rexburg.

Eric A. Valdivieso, 42, of Driggs, was arrested in California on a three-count felony arrest warrant for forgery (passing counterfeit currency).

 He is now being held at the Madison County Jail with bail set at $100,000.

According to Rexburg police the warrant was issued Sept. 27, 2012.

Valdivieso is accused of passing counterfeit bills at the Walmart and Kmart stores in Rexburg in September 2012.

The potential penalty for forgery is one to 14 years in prison and, or up to $50,000 in fines.
